Kamehameha Holiday!

We spent our holiday at the beach.  This was the first time going to the beach as a family.  We had so much fun.  Dallin and I stayed on the shore while Eldon and James played in the water.
Dallin mostly ate and slept all day.

Eldon absolutely LOVED having daddy with him.  He did not want to come out of the water at all (not even to eat).
Funny story.  While Eldon was swimming, he said "daddy...rocks."  When he says "rocks" it's his way of saying he has to make #2.  James ran him up to shore and to the nearest restroom.  As soon as they made it to the toilet, Eldon said, "daddy we made it, we made it!"  Boy are we glad he did make it:)

Eldon, Dallin & I have been lucky to go with Yoshio, Adrian, Kahiapo, Halana & Pomai to the beach when James is at work.  Here are a few pics from our trips to Koolina.

Day at the Zoo!

We've been wanting to take Eldon to the zoo for a while now, so when the opportunity arose, we jumped at it.  I didn't realize that there was the Kamehameha Day parade going on which ends right at the zoo.  Parking was CRAZY!  I ended up dropping off Eldon & James while I drove around with sleeping Dallin for 45 minutes.  To make things worse, I forgot my cell phone at home.  After unknowingly parking in an unmarked stall (luckily, no ticket) and jogging a mile with the double stroller to the zoo, I asked a random lady sitting on the side if I could borrower her cell phone.  Wow, I didn't realize the zoo was so huge and I realized how important it is to ALWAYS carry my cell phone.  Eldon just loved the zoo which made the crazy trip all worth it.

Eldon has really enjoyed watching "The Lion King" recently. so he loved looking at the lions.

So, this is the only picture I took with Eldon. I asked James, "where is the animal" and he said, "the tiger kept moving." So here's my only picture at the zoo with a glass frame. Haha!

Sorry Dallin, we didn't get any pictures of you at the zoo. We left at about 9:45am and got home at about 1:45pm and Dallin slept the entire time.

Growing Up Too Fast!

Whenever James shaves, Eldon LOVES following him into the bathroom to "shave" along with him.  James is so nice to put the shaving cream on, have him look at himself in the mirror, laugh and clean it all up.  Eldon just adores his daddy and wants to be just like him.

Introducing Baby Dallin - Eldon's birthday present

Here is the short and sweet version of my labor and delivery story.  I had a long day taking care of Eldon (had to clean the carpet twice from a potty accident and him dumping baby shampoo on the carpet).  Crystal called me up to go see the "Hunger Games."  We had a girls night out and I went.  We joked about me going into labor.  I don't know if it was the intensity of the movie or what but I thought I was going into labor during the movie.  I waited till the end of the movie and as we headed home, I called James to get ready to go to the hospital.  On the way there, all my contractions had stopped.  Since we had already dropped off Eldon with Mom Tanabe, we decided to just go.  After walking 2 miles around the hospital with my eyes half asleep from 12am to 1am in the morning, I only had 2 contractions.  I thought for sure they would send me home, but they decided to keep me because I was surprisingly going into labor.  After a pain free night, I had dilated to 9cm.  I got the epidural, they broke my water bag and our precious Dallin was born 2 hours later.  We are so blessed and so thankful to have a healthy and beautiful bundle of joy, our baby Dallin.

His Name:  As we were trying to find a name for Dallin, we thought of maybe giving him a name starting with "E."  But, couldn't think of one that really felt right.  We then decided to try and find a 2 syllable name, ending with "n" that was after a modern day prophet (like the name Eldon after N. Eldon Tanner).  So we named after Dallin H. Oaks.

His Hawaiian name, "Kupa'aikapono" means to stand firm in being righteous.  One of James favorite prophets in the scriptures is Peter because he was the "rock."  We didn't want to name him "Pohaku" which literally means rock so we decided to find a Hawaiian name the would describe the attributes of Peter that we liked.
Eldon's 2nd birthday present this year was his baby brother.  Eldon came to the hospital and met Dallin for the first time on hid birthday, April 1.  Since James birthday is just 6 days before Dallin's on March 25, we sure will have a busy birthday week for the rest of our lives.

Valentine's Day 2012

This year we took the LOVE of our lives, Eldon, to have a Valentines dinner with us at the Cattle Company. We waited about 45 minutes to be seated.  Luckily James had the movie "Rio" on his phone, so Eldon was happily occupied.  We had a wonderful appetizer, prime rib dinner (James fav), and a warm cookie topped with vanilla bean ice cream.  YUM!!  Eldon loved the food as much as we did and was a well-behaved boy.  Happy Valentine's Day!!

Walking in Mommy's Shoes

Eldon loves walking in mommy and daddy's shoes.  He first started by wearing daddy's huge slippers outside the house.  He learned to wear his own slippers (without back-straps) by about 18 months.  What a funny little boy!

Happy Halloween 2012

This year, I decided to have a little green yoda in our home.  I had fun making his pretty quick and easy costume.  I bought the brightest green poster board I could find to make his light saber with some duct tape for the handle and rice inside to make noises.  His ears were made out of paper and he just wore my green t-shirt with a rope tied around his waste.

We had to put him in front of the mirror to keep his ears on.  He did not want to wear it.

On Halloween day, I wanted to take him out for just a little bit to go trick-or-treating but he did not want to wear his costume.  So instead we had a quiet night at home.  We carved this pumpkin (Eldon didn't really want to get his hands dirty) and daddy found a candle to light it up.  I had a bowl of candy ready for any visitors, but not one person showed up at our door.  Despite the unexpected evening of events, we all had a fun Halloween.

Congratulations Aunty Kea & Uncle Kai

“Let us not live a life … that would bring regret. … It is not going to matter very much how much money you made, what kind of a house you lived in, what kind of a car you drove, the size of your bank account—any of those things. What is going to matter is that dear woman who has walked with you side by side as your companion through all of the years of life and those children and grandchildren and great-grandchildren and their faithfulness and their looking to you … with respect and love and deference and kindness.”
Gordon B. Hinckley (Liahona, March 2006)
How blessed we are to know that families can be together forever.

Water Fun!

With the heat of the summer came some relief for Eldon when he got to play outside our home in his little pool.  As you can see in the pictures, daddy loved pouring water on Eldon.  He LOVES to bother him.  Eldon loved it MOST of the time:)

Fun Times w/ the Goos

Eldon & I enjoyed a day w Crystal, Granny, Aria, Grandma and Grandpa Goo at the Waikiki aquarium.  Eldon loved looking at all fishes and creatures of the sea, but he especially loved being with Ari-bari.

Here he got to hold a hermit crab.  I made sure he didn't hold it too long to avoid any "accidents."  After the aquarium we had ono dim sum grinds with the Goos.  Thank you Goos for making it such a fun day for us!!
We are grateful for all of your love and kindness and feel so blessed to have you in our lives.
